Hibiscus and Palm Islands are neighboring islands that rose from Biscayne Bay in 1922 by the Army Corps of Engineers and are accessible by a bridge to the MacArthur Causeway. These islands are recognized for their park like atmosphere, peacefulness, and safety for impeccable waterfront residences with many yachts that are docked behind the houses. The neighborhoods are filled with tall palms, beautiful landscapes and no cables overhead, as they are buried underground to help in creating a picture perfect scene.

These islands are also very family friendly with children’s playgrounds and picnic areas. Palm Island’s fame goes back to 1928 when Al Capone bought a mansion that was built by the brewing tycoon Clarence Busch. Al Capone made this mansion the scene of huge celebrity filled parties in the middle of prohibition.

The neighboring island to Palm Island is Hibiscus Island and it can be reached by a bridge. There are fine waterfront homes on North and South Hibiscus Drive, some condos, and two story town homes make this a great residential area.
